Q: What is the SMAT phone number service?
A: The SMAT Number service is a service that enables personal branding on phone numbers. A SMAT number is a personalized telephone number provided to individuals or businesses to enable them to attach their identity to contact numbers used in reaching them. These are provided on the access codes 0700 and 0800.

Q: What is the difference between the 0700 and 0800 number services?
A: The primary difference between the 0700 and 0800 phone number services is who pays for calls made to the respective phone numbers. All calls to an 0800 phone number is paid for by the receiver. This type of phone number is usually provided by businesses that aim to strengthen their customer service and/or improve accessibility for their customers and partners to them (so with or without "minutes" you can always reach companies that provide 0800 numbers without charge to the caller). In contrast, the 0700 phone numbers are subject to charges imposed by the underlying phone service provider (i.e. charges imposed by MTN, Glo, Etisalat or whichever other phone service provider provided your SIM card). It is important to point out that no additional charges are imposed for calling or receiving a call on an 0700 phone number.

Q: Does this work with my existing MTN, Glo, Zain, Etisalat, or other phone provider SIM card and phone #?
A: Yes.
Our SMAT number service is connected to every phone service provider nationwide. Setup is easy and works seamlessly with your existing phone number regardless of which network you are on. It's as simple as choosing your number, paying a nominal subscription fee and having the number immediately activated (No per call charges and you never need recharge cards).

Q: Does this work with landline, GSM and fixed wireless?
A: Yes. Works with all phone line types.

Q: Do I get charged extra fees for calling other networks?
A: No.
Calls to 0800 numbers are always FREE to the caller and calls to 0700 numbers are subject to the charges imposed by your SIM card provider but you will never be charged any additional fees (there is also no charges for receiving calls).

Q: Do I get charged extra fees when receiving calls from other networks?
A: No.

Q: Do I need to buy a SIM card to use this service?
A: You can use your existing SIM card and phone number. We will simply link your personalized SMAT number to your existing line. If you do not have an existing phone number, you will need to purchase a SIM card from one of the phone service providers i.e. MTN, Glo, Etisalat, etc

Q: Does this require a recharge card?
A: No.

Q: What if I change my existing SIM card and/or phone #?
A: It's not a problem. We will simply link your new phone number to your personalized SMAT number.

Q: Is my personalized 0700 or 0800 number available nationwide?
A: Yes.
You can make calls to any SMAT number throughout the country and can receive calls on your SMAT number throughout the country.

Q: Is my personalized 0700 or 0800 number available to people in other countries?
A: Yes.
You can receive calls on your SMAT number from friends, family or customers in foreign countries. They simply dial the Nigeria country code and your SMAT number the same way they dial any Nigerian phone number from abroad.
